Graphic designer for work and passionate illustrator in his spare time, for Massimo (aka M4zz1) art is a safety valve and a place where he can reinterpret objects and brands of popular culture.
His vocation for communication has thus met a style based on visual accumulation and the ephemeral essence of advertising. The crowding of the stereotyped images of commercials produced by the most iconic brands, ends up desecrating every subject, turning it into textures and superimpositions that find their order in the disorder and vice versa.
A visual translation of the sense of oppression and addiction, caused by the intrusiveness of big brands, which through shouted images and obsessive advertising infiltrate in the minds of their audiences. At the same time, Massimo’s research leads to a simple art, since the way in which the message must be transmitted must also be simple.
“For me, art is like going to the psychologist: a sort of self-therapy, a refuge, a mantra to be repeated to always find a safe haven, a mandala to build and potentially destroy.
In that sense, Balklim is an opportunity: to challenge myself to draw out new artworks.”

The TidyMess series is an encounter where accumulation meets ephemerality. A hidden world, with an undeniable weight on the global economic scenario.
Volatile and technical, ethereal yet eternal. In other words: Ethereum. This cryptocurrency inspires the first work of the series, based on an overlapping of elements and the reinterpretation of a style that lies between street art and pop art.

The crowding of the cryptocurrencies leaves space to dashes of colours, giving the illusion of syncopated breathing.
Textures merge together, accumulate, suffocate. Values rise and fall, in a prevarication of overlapping levels.

Fast, low-cost and on-demand payments. Real-time money flows through the financial network.
But what lies on the other side of the coin? Inspired by a concept of artwork as a modern mandala, the work investigates the specifics of a cryptocurrency that by its nature is fast and elusive.

Lite is a word that suggests an image of lightness. A concept that perfectly describes the elusive essence of Litecoin: a cryptocurrency designed for the transactions of smaller amounts at lower costs , able to offer efficiency and speed.
By the way, behind this light digital currency lies an influence that involves the whole world, which recurs among the currencies portrayed in the artwork.
Monero / 2021
Monero is the ideal choice when talking about anonymity. Thanks to its cryptographic gimmicks, it is able to hide sensitive data and make users who use it ghosts.
An invisibility that makes it the preferred choice for conducting the most controversial activities and transactions. The lines that at a first glance look like fingerprints, thus reveal an ephemeral and impregnable nature: elusive digital aliases.
Tether / 2021
A guaranteed, constant and stable value, over time. Tether seems to be the only cryptocurrency able to pave the way for the evolution of virtual currencies.
Its literal meaning is “to tie”: in the same way, in this representation the images are bound together, creating a texture where there’s no more empty space left and graphic elements fill up everything.

The ultimate celebration of cryptocurrencies becomes their true desecration. In this artwork, is possible to find a whole immaterial universe floating in the digital world.
Sort of a primordial soup where every virtual currency becomes an ideal cell and dashes of pure colors give way to dense textures. A tidy mess, regulated by complex and elusive laws.
